Past President Howard Seckendorf, who died while serving as Rochester Rotary Club President in 2009, had a dream. His dream was that every child who wanted to play baseball, or be involved with a sports team, regardless of physical limitation, should be able to have fulfillment. "Buddy Ball" was established for youngsters who are either physically and/or mentally challenged. This division makes allowance for a “buddy” to help the player swing a bat, round the bases, catch a ball, etc. Buddy-Ball is designed so that everyone has the opportunity to have fun, but no fields designed and engineered to accommdate the physically challenged currently existed in New Hampshire or the immediate surrounds.
Howie's Field of Dreams proudly held it's opening day at Roger Allen Recreation Area in Rochester, New Hampshire on June 1, 2013.
Donations continue to be accepted to support the Buddy League which is free of charge for all participating players.
